DO Clean all gutters and downspout THOROUGHLY prior to installing Gutter-Champ gutter cover. Check to see that all gutters and downspouts, standpipes etc. are free flowing and running properly. This will ensure that your gutter system and Gutter-Champ gutter guard leaf protection will function properly together for years to come.
DO NOT install Gutter-Champ gutter guard leaf protection in such a way that it is over compressed down into the gutter! Over compression may reduce water flow or create a “dam effect” which can greatly reduce the performance of Gutter-Champ gutter guard. If installing Gutter-Champ gutter guard leaf protection under the gutter hanger or gutter spike (nail with or without ferrell) results in compressing Gutter-Champ gutter guard more than 25% you must first either cut or notch Gutter-Champ gutter guard and fit into your gutter. A simple slit about ¾ of the way through Gutter-Champ gutter guard is all that is needed to slip over gutter spikes. It is not necessary to cut each section of Gutter-Champ gutter guard and fit between. You can set Gutter-Champ gutter protection on the gutter and rotate up onto the edge of your roof to line up the location of gutter spikes for making your slit cuts.
DO NOT over stretch Gutter-Champ gutter protection when pulling under gutter hanger or gutter spike! Gutter-Champ gutter guard leaf protection is sold in either 4' (47.75” actual size) or 1m (38.5”actual size) lengths. If you are not sure how much you have stretched Gutter-Champ gutter guard during installation, you can measure the section after it is installed to be sure. Overstretching Gutter-Champ gutter protection can cause gaps between installed sections once Gutter-Champ gutter cover eventually returns to its factory pre cut length. Gaps create unprotected areas in you gutter. Gaps may fill with leaves or other debris and significantly reduce the performance of Gutter-Champ gutter cover. Take care to always install Gutter-Champ gutter guard leaf protection properly.
